Delighted and honoured to be leading this ACE Cultural Tours trip to the Leipzig Bachfest 2018, and talking about a subject close to my heart:  the cantatas that he wrote for liturgical use. It’s a body of work I know well, having masterminded a complete cycle of cantatas between 1997 and 2010. And the opening weekend of this year’s Bachfest is given over to a special focus on some of the greatest of these works, in the so-called Cantata Ring.  The tour is sold out, but full information is here.

Talk on JS Bach’s sacred cantatas for the Ross on Wye Classical Music Society

14/04/2013
19:30to22:00

A raging serpent, a hellish dragon and God’s army of angels… but that’s enough about the audience! I’ve been invited to the Ross on Wye Classical Music Society to give a talk about my experience of conducting a complete cycle of JS Bach’s surviving sacred cantatas. And I’ll be offering a few illustrated reflections about this marvellous body of work.
